Crypto numbers explained
Every portfolio screen is a stack of numbers that look obvious and are not. A 24-hour change is a rolling window, not a calendar day. Market capitalization depends on which supply figure a data provider uses. A cost basis is an arithmetic average only until you pick a method, and the price on the screen is one provider’s summary of many trading venues. These guides define the terms plainly and say where each figure comes from, so that a number can be read for what it is. None of them is advice about what to buy, hold or sell, and none of them predicts a price.

What 24h change really measures, and what it hides
The 24-hour change is a rolling window, not a figure since midnight, which is why two apps disagree and why the same day reads differently by evening.

Why measure your crypto portfolio in BTC, not only in dollars
A crypto portfolio value in BTC can fall in a week when the dollar total rises. A worked example, the arithmetic, and which unit answers which question.
